Storage & Freezing

How many pounds of beef will my freezer hold?

Generally, one cubic foot of freezer space will hold 35-40 pounds of cut and wrapped beef. However, since beef cuts are usually not uniform in size, it’s recommended to allow additional space for storage.

How long can Reminisce Angus Beef be frozen and still maintain its quality?

Beef can be stored for 9-12 months while maintaining its quality. Although beef can be safely stored for longer periods, extended storage may result in freezer burn, dehydration, and broken packages, leading to a loss of quality and quantity. For best results, consider using shorter storage periods.

Why should I have my beef frozen by a commercial processor?

It is best to have large beef purchases frozen by a commercial processor using proper quick freeze equipment. Slow freezing can cause more meat fibers to rupture due to the formation of large ice crystals, resulting in more juice loss when thawed. Ensure that the beef is quick-frozen at -10°F or lower before it’s taken to your home freezer.

Cooking

How long can beef be frozen and still maintain its quality?

Beef can be stored in the freezer for 9–12 months. Longer storage can lead to quality loss, such as freezer burn and dehydration, so it's best to consume within this timeframe for optimal flavor.

What is the best way to cook marbled Angus beef for optimal flavor?

For optimal flavor, marbled Angus beef is best cooked using high-heat methods such as grilling, broiling, or pan-searing. This technique allows the marbling to melt into the meat, enhancing its flavor and tenderness.

How can I ensure my beef stays juicy and tender while cooking?

To keep your beef juicy and tender, let it rest at room temperature before cooking, and allow it to rest after cooking. Also, avoid overcooking and use a meat thermometer to ensure you reach the desired internal temperature.

What is the ideal internal temperature for different cuts of beef?

The ideal internal temperature varies by cut and preference. For steaks, 130°F for medium-rare, 140°F for medium, and 160°F for well-done. For roasts, aim for 145°F for medium-rare and 160°F for medium.

How should I thaw frozen beef safely before cooking?

Thaw frozen beef in the refrigerator overnight for safe and even defrosting. If you're short on time, use the defrost setting on your microwave or submerge the sealed package in cold water, changing the water every 30 minutes.
